Even after deleting OO from the system, its icons still remain. I am Trying to revert to MS office opening all my excel, ppt and excel
documents- was able to accomplish this after deleting OO by setting Microsoft as the default program to open all xls doc and ppt files.

However, all those files still use the OO icon. and even when creating a new file in word, excel or powerpoint, it is still saved with the OO icon.

Something is not right! when I take these files to another computer, they display the microsoft icon- but not on my computer! also, when I
right click on these documents and select Properties, it says it is a Microsoft word, excel or powerpoint document- however, if I right click and
select New, it says "can't find soffice.exe" "this program is required for opening files of this type" please advise- thanks!

Reassigned to myself.

My comment from issue #6108:

During the Setup on the following page behind start Copying is
asked: "Select the file types that are to be opened with OpenOffice.
OpenOffice will automatically open the following file types:" The
Checkboxes for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and default HTML-Editor are
checked. You have agreed with click on OK.
The allocation after deinstall of a program is more a problem of
Windows.
Try this:
Push SHIFT on your Keyboard and make a right Mouseclick on a Word
document. A context menu appears where you choose OPEN WITH.
Another menu opens where you choose MICROSOFT WORD. Check the box
for "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file".
Now click OK and everthing should be fine.
Do this with Excel, PowerPoint a.s.o. too.
