Description Unknown 2002-06-25 01:38:20 UTC
Accidentally installed OO to default open all MS Office files- can't change back. Even documents created in Word, Excell. Powerpoint are
opened by default with OO not MS. Icon for the MS files is the OO icon. Tried uninstalling OO- looks for soffice.exe to open my MS Office files-
will NOT open at all with MS.

Entered this complaint over a week ago and does not even show up under "My Issues" please help!

During the Setup on the following page behind start Copying is
asked: "Select the file types that are to be opened with OpenOffice.
OpenOffice will automatically open the following file types:" The
Checkboxes for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and default HTML-Editor are
checked. You have agreed with click on OK.
The allocation after deinstall of a program is more a problem of
Windows.
Try this:
Push SHIFT on your Keyboard and make a right Mouseclick on a Word
document. A context menu appears where you choose OPEN WITH.
Another menu opens where you choose MICROSOFT WORD. Check the box
for "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file".
Now click OK and everthing should be fine.
Do this with Excel, PowerPoint a.s.o. too.

I reassigned this to you. Are my comments are helpful please be so
kind and close this issue.
regards Uwe

I think, there should be some mean to restore MS file associations.
Tino, would you take care of this issue?
Comment 11 stx123 2002-11-19 09:52:58 UTC
Reassigning to Tino.

Hi *,

this should happily be fixed already. So try OO 1.0.1
and you should be even able to re-assign the MS document
file associations with a setup repair.

Best Regards,
Tino

Hi Olaf,

with OO643C the file association will be restored correctly on
de-installand may even be changed using a setup "Modify".

Best Regards,
Tino
