Description Andrew Cowen 2016-04-29 16:37:43 UTC
A window has appeared saying that OpenOffice quit unexpectedly asking if I want to reopen its windows again. There are two options Don't Reopen and Reopen. Neither works, the window remains open and I cannot access any OpenOffice options at all.

You might see if any of the approaches provided at Issue 126188 are of any use
on your Mac. This is in response to a problem on Windows, so you will need to adjust to the appearance and way of operating on the Mac.

The original reporter has confirmed that the problem was solved when the presence of an existing lock on a file was over-ridden. This is the sort of thing for which additional documentation on trouble-shooting and work-arounds would be helpful.

It would help to leave some of these as Resolved so they can be more easily mined for places where some non-code fixes can be managed. Alternatively, tasks would have to be created.

Suggestions?

The solution to my OpenOffice problem being resolved did not seem to have any logic to it at all, however the process was this: I closed the computer down (Apple OS X 10.9.5) by using the button at the back of the Apple software, rather than via the keyboard. On restarting the system a new window appeared (in addition to the original "Don't Reopen/Reopen" one) warning that someone else might be accessing OpenOffice and offering 3 options. I pressed the cancel option and OpenOffice was restored to its original state allowing me access to the software.

Unfortunately I can't remember the other two options being an everyday user of the computer rather than a specialist. However I can only surmise that shutting the computer down via the rear button short circuited OpenOffice by introducing an element that broke the original fault cycle.

Hope this helps someone.

NB. Sorry... I pressed the button at the back of the Apple HARDWARE not as I said software.
