Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 124237
The Top Side of A Top Table Row Cannot Be Resized
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:13:12 UTC
This has been originally reported by Sam Jennings <samjennings@hotmail.com> as Bug 124210, what changed the subject during the Confirming process because of some misunderstanding ------------- Original Report ---------------------- Steps: Make a table and try resizing each outer edge: Bottom Right Left Observe that you can resize them. Now select the top edge of the table. It can not be resized. Expected: It should behave like the Bottom, Right and Left edges. ---------------- End of Original Report --------------------- ------- Additional Info by Private mail Sam Jennings ------------ [...] Behavior for top edge is not the same as it is for bottom, right and left. Moreover, there is no reasonable workaround. The only alternative is to resize each row beneath the top row, all the way down to the base of the graph...which frankly is utterly inane. [...] try making a table 20 row table, and format each row exactly the size you want. Now try to resize the top cell. [...] ---------------- End of PM --------------------------- To be honest, I still haven't a clue what exactly reporter's problem might be. "Resize top edge of the table"? Does reporter want to move top border of the cell to move the whole table (I don't think so)? Or to resize row height of the first row (I think so)? Ar of all rows? My interpretation is that reporter wants to increase / decrease row height of first row by moving top table border border up / down. But that is wrong, to increase / decrease row height of first row you have to drag bottom border of first table row down / up, what only will modify height of first row and not touch height of other row. So this one would be NOT_AN_ISSUE @reporter: Please add all information requested in following: a) Write a meaningful Summary describing exactly what the problem is "Top side of a top table row" is not clear b) Attach a sample document (not only screenshot) or refer to an existing sample document in an other Bug with a link; to attach a file to this bug report, just click on "Add an attachment" right on this page. If you want to attach a test kit with multiple documents zip them into a single testkit.zip and attach the testkit.zip c) Contribute a clear description what the intention of the table edits is and a document related step by step instruction containing every key press and every mouse click how to reproduce your problem d) Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show f) add information f1) what EXACTLY is unexpected f2) and WHY do you believe it's unexpected (cite Help or Documentation!) f9) Whether that worked in former OOO / AOO Versions f10) whether (and how) a competitor's software (MSO, LibreOffice, ...) fulfills your needs
This should be closed as a duplicate. The original bug report has all the required information, including the expected behavior. However, the other bug which was discovered in the process of examining the bug this report duplicates should have its own report.
On more examination, I'm content with your explanation Rainer. Recommending closing this bug.
