Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 117234
Add equilateral triangle to Basic shapes
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:40:53 UTC
Basic shapes should contain an equilateral triangle, these are very difficult to draw freehand because the length of the sides is not equivalent to the height of the bounding frame. There is plenty of space in the selection box. Alternatively make the isosceles, that is already included (two equal sides/angles ) equilateral (three equal length sides/angles), since it is easy to modify from equilateral to isosceles but not easy to modify the other way.
Issue 18381 is a wider request about regular polygons with arbitrary vertices. Issue 95297 requests that regular (equal sided) polygons should be the default form not only for triangles but for hexagons and octagons. If one of these will be implemented this request would become obsolete, but for now it is a valid request to include a equilateral triangle.

Created attachment 79359 [details] document contains a isosceles triangle I don't think, that we should add more and more custom shapes to the toolbar. Such shapes can be collected in the gallery. For all those who want a isosceles triangle I have attached a Draw document. It contains an isosceles triangle without handle. The triangle is isosceles if the object box is a square. So if you set the object to equal width and height in the position&size dialog, you will get an isosceles triangle. This triangle has glue points in the corners, in the middle of the edges, and in the center of the triangle. To get the triangle open the document and drag the triangle into your gallery.
