Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 10036
project files cannot be added in nl.openoffice.org and possibly others
Last modified: 2003-12-06 14:52:32 UTC
You can upload a file to the project files area in e.g. nl.openoffice.org, checking the box "public", but after uploading the page still says "no files available for download".
confirmed
Confirmed here as well in the collabnet project. Action Plan: Research the logs and open an internal issue. Timeframe: Update by the end of the day (PST).
Opened an internal issue to get this looked at by our engineers. Tested this in three other projects and the same symptoms are occurring. Action Plan: Follow the internal issue. Timeframe: Update by the end of the day (PST).
*** Issue 10085 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. ***
Seems our engineers have determined that the files are being uploaded but they are not being displayed as available for download. Action Plan: Work to continue on this. Timeframe: Update by Wednesday, 12/18.
there are also variuos complains from the api, framework and tools projects.
raising prio from 2 to 1, because all projects seems to be affected, major data loss, an error, that "severerly impedes the use of the technology".
There is no data loss in the system unless there is more to this issue that has not been reported here. As mentioned in my prior update on 2002-12-16 19:01 PST, the files _are_ being uploaded to the system successfully. It is a case of the system not recognizing them for listing/downloading. Basically, it is a display issue. Our engineers have determined that something is occurring in the upload process prior to a row being added in the DB for the new file, hence it does not get indexed and added to the list of available download files to display. Now we need to determine why the new row in the db is not getting created. We understand this is debilitating for users in this function of the product; I opened the internal issue with a higher priority than the external issue for precisely this reason as well as my identification of these symptoms occurring in more than one project, hence a site-wide problem. Action Plan: This issue has been escalated internally to get more attention, specifically in a high-level meeting scheduled for Thursday, December 19. Timeframe: Update Thursday.
Sorry to be nitpicking here, but there were files in the files section of several projects. These files are not accessible any more. From a user's point of view I would call that data loss.
Stefan, you're correct. From a user's pov, this does appear to be data loss. I want to re-assure you though, the files are still on the site. In fact, they can still be retrieved right now with the correct URL, e.g. the following URL would retrieve one of the uploaded test files: http://nl.openoffice.org/servlets/ProjectDownloadList?action=download&dlID=189 Action Plan: Our engineers are working on setting up a test environment right now to re-create and attack the problem. Timeframe: Update by Friday, December 20.
Our engineers have isolated the problem on a test machine and continue to work on it. We should see some results soon. Timeframe: Update by 01/03/03.
update: our engineers are working on a patch to apply to fix this problem, we will have an update by tomorrow, 1/3/02
This is now resolved. All the files that were uploaded to the system in the interim are available as well as all the original files in place prior to this issue.
