Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 969
Caps and double caps autocorrect
Last modified: 2014-09-24 01:45:30 UTC
While I like the autocorrect feature is some situations I find that I have to turn it on and off manually. MS Office handles it a bit differently. I'd make the following recommendations: 1. Have the autocorrect settings specific per applications. For example the Caps and double caps autocorrect is very useful in a WP document, but in a spreadsheet it is a real pain. I want to type a variable like "vt" I don't want "Vt". 2. Put the autocorrect into the undo list. MS Office does this. That way if I want "VTline" I just hit undo after autocorrect changes it to "Vtline". thanks, -Sep
Enhancement -> your job, Falko.
A follow up on this. The undo option is also needed when doing an automatic hyperlink. So if I type http://openoffice.org OO will automatically create the link. As in MS Office it should put that automatic linking into the Undo list so I can unhyperlink easily.
Ehm,... Undo for automatic Hyperlink detection is already implemented for years. Ever tried to press [Ctrl]-[Z] after a string (like www.openoffice.org) has been automatically formatted as a hyperlink? Or did I misunderstand you?
Oh you're right undo does work, I don't know why I was thinking that. Sorry for any confusion. One thing that is difficult is how to remove a hyperlink long after it has been made. The first item of the request is still important because there is still no way to make a SS cell equal "AA" if the double cap auto correct is on. And no way to have a cell equal to "aa" if first letter in sentance cap autocorrrect is turned on.
Will get back to this issue later. Thx. for submittance.

This was two isssues. One has been solved, and the other is a duplicate of #6493. That's still a valid issue *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 6493 ***
.
I have reopened this issue, because the issue regarding undo after AutoCorrect on leaving cells is still valid and will be fixed for 2.x.
FL: AutoCorrect on leaving cells does not work, due to a separated undo stack. Undo will remove the complete cell change instead. Proposal: Undo will undo AutoFormat first. 2nd undo will remove cell change.

No resources for OOo 2.4 -> retargeted to OOo 3.0.
Retargeting.
This issue is important and listed on the quarterly review for Calc: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/2008_Q2_Review_of_Spreadsheet_Project
On Version 4.1.1 with Windows 7, AutoCorrect only capitalizes lower case i's in spreadsheets. But when one wants to undo that autocorrect of a single i, it is treated as an insert for each individual character. With the Writer (word docs), AutoCorrect is working properly. Hope this helps! Thanks.
Tyler Charles 09/23/2014 I successfully replicated this issue by using the variable VTline. Autocorrect changes my input to Vtline, and the only way to avoid this is to manually turn off the Autocorrect feature or manually change the autocorrected 't' to 'T'.
