Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 95052
text insert behavior in Outline is different from previous release
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:20:06 UTC
1. Choose [File] > [New] > [Presentation] 2. Click [Empty presentation] in Presentation Wizard and click [Create] 3. Click [Outline] tab 4. Choose [Insert] > [File] and select a text file and click [Insert] Slides were created every one line in a text file. However, the only one slide was created in previous release. Has the specification been changed in OOo 3.0?
Created attachment 57198 [details] outline in OOo3.0
Created attachment 57199 [details] outline in SS8
Created attachment 57200 [details] text file
SBA -> WG: Please proceed, thx.
Reproducible. Reassigned.
Changing target to OOo 3.2 due to time constraints. Moreover, fixing issues regarding the Outliner is notoriously complicated and prone to regressions.
Setting target to OOo 3.3.
@cl: Please take over.
I'm currently not sure why this behavior was changed. Since it is this way since 3.0 I fear that if we put the old behavior back we will get complains again. Both versions make sense for inserting unformatted text. One argument for the current behavior would be that you could insert the text from the file to a single slide by using the clipboard. But if we change the current behavior to the pre 3.0 behavior than there would be no way to create slides from a list of slide titles. I reassign this issue to user experience for clarification
