Description lendo 2008-10-14 15:25:29 UTC
In Writer in OOo 3.0, the cursor position within a document will not be restored
after reopening. Is this the new behaviour or is this a defect? I haven't take
care about this in the alpha versions of OOo 3.0, so I can't say the date from
which the cursor position restoring doesn't work anymore.

I created a document with OOo 2.4.1 and tested it with OOo 2.4.1 and 3.0: the
older version works, OOo 3 doesn't restore the cursor position.

(Restoring of cursor position only worked when opened a document via File > Open
and not when double-clicking on a file in the file manager.)

Reassigned to SBA.
Comment 3 lendo 2008-10-17 08:12:41 UTC
Strange. Cursor position restoring worked well the last days.
So I will mark this issue as WFM.
If this happens yet again, I will reopen it (if necessary).
Comment 4 lendo 2008-10-17 13:02:10 UTC
Sorry for issue spam. This defect still occurs.
When opening a document, the view starts at the right position somewhere in the
document where you have saved it last time, but the cursor is positioned at the
beginning of the document and that's the bug.
Comment 5 stefan.baltzer 2008-10-24 16:41:41 UTC
SBA: Confirmed. Reassigned to OS.

The cursor is at the top of the document, the view is where the cursor should be
(The last edit position, note that the User Name of the Office must be set
correctly to have this feature at all.)

Set target to OOo 3.1, set keyword "regression", set link to issue 93339.
Comment 6 stefan.baltzer 2008-10-24 17:16:54 UTC
Set dependency to OOo 3.0.1 stopper issue 93339 now.
Comment 7 Oliver Specht 2008-10-24 18:20:45 UTC
->sba: I know it's Friday, but: Did you intend to set the target to 3.0.1 as the
stopper issue is set or to 3.1 as you wrote or to nothing as you did?

Target _actually_ set to 3.0.1
Comment 8 Oliver Specht 2008-10-28 14:38:07 UTC
Fixed in cws os122 in
sw/source/ui/uiview/view.cxx

Not sure about 3.0.1, but m39 and m41 still do not return user to the location
of last edit. Repro:
Open attached doc (just random text, happens with other files), edit text on
2nd, 3rd or 4th pages, save, close, open - you are at first page.
Comment 17 helenrussian 2009-02-11 15:40:57 UTC
3.0.1 works good.
But in m40 when opening file cursor don't return to the location of last edit.
Comment 18 stefan.baltzer 2009-02-12 00:02:50 UTC
Works well for me in OOO300_m41.
My scenario:
 - Start Office (Win XP, German)
 - Tools - Options - OOo - General
 - Enter "Test" as User Firstname
 - Enter "Test_01" as User Lastname
 - Click OK
 - File - New - Text document
 - Insert dummy text to fill 3 pages
 - Insert extra paragraph
 - Type a word
 - Put Cursor in first position (in front of the word)
 - Save document as test.odt
 - Exit Office (and Quickstarter)
 - Resteart Office, load test.odt
-> Cursor is in the last edit position
 - Tools - Options - OOo - General
 - Change User Lastname to "Test_02"
 - File - Reload
-> Cursor is in the FIRST position of the document
[Because user is "document reader" now, not editor]
 - Tools - Options - OOo - General
 - Change User Lastname back to "Test_01"
 - File - Reload
-> Cursor is in the last edit position again
=> all works as expected.

Please comment, thx.

Please do not reopen issue which have already been fixed in a release build.
File a new issue if a problem re-occurs. This will be much easier to process.
Thanks for your patience!

Arghh, yet another feature that depends on user data properly filled in.
Works fine now.
Sorry for the confusion.
