Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 94900
Copy and Paste of text does not work properly in Impress
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:29:05 UTC
Hello, Copy and Paste of text in OpenOffice.org Impress 3.0 is broken. Reproduction: 1. Create a new (empty) Presentation. 2. Select a layout for the slide which contains a title and an itemized list (this is the normal standard layout which you would use throughout a presentation). 3. Go to the "itemized list" field and create an item by typing some text and pressing enter. 4. Now create a subitem by pressing "Tab" in the second line and typing some text followed by "Enter".line. 5. Create another two subitems. 6. Mark the text of a subitem and copy it by pressing "CTRL+C". 7. Create a new Subitem and paste the text by pressing "Ctrl+V". Now you should see that the formatting of the text is broken. The font size is wrong. In my opinion this is a P2 bug which should be definitely fixed in OOo 3.0.1. It should be marked as a stopper for 3.0.1.
Reproducible. Reassigned. But it is not a prio 2 issue, please have a look at http://qa.openoffice.org/scdocs/ddIssues_EnterModify.html#priority.
Ok, I am sorry. You are right. It is a P3 issue.
Reproducible with Mac OS X on PPC G4
Reproducible with Mac OS X 10.5.5 on Intel MacBookPro
It seems as if this only happens when there are subitems. Is it possible to suggest this bug for OOo 3.0.1 since the released was delayed by one month? I think "copy+paste" is such a basic functionality that it has to work.
i agree. i have raised my 2 votes for this issue.
I agree, I raised 2 votes. Please fix in 3.0.1
Setting target to OOo 3.2 due to time constraints.
Shifting this issue to 3.2 is really bad since it is a basic functionality.
@parity: You seem to imply that I don't think that this is basic functionality. Well, I do. But still, there are many other issues which I think are more serious. But this is open source. If this is important to you then help me fix it. Or let me help you fix it. Or tell me which other 3.1 issue to set to 3.2 instead.
I found an efficient way to make things ok after pasting 1. select the text box 2. right click then Default Format Not perfect but it's working
@mdelorme: This is a nice idea. But unfortunatelly this "default formatting" also destroys any other special formatting inside the whole textbox (different textcolors, fonts,subscripts,...) so I could hardly ever use it in my typical presentations. I am still hopeing that someone will eventually fix this very nasty bug, since it drives my frustration level with Impress pretty often high upwards.
Is there still a chance to get this fixed for 3.2?
+1 hopefully to be fixed in 3.2... this issue is quite annoying
Strange bug indeed. Another partial work around is using Paste special.
it is very likely that this issue will be fixed soon since has been elected a 3.2 stopper
Maybe the problem is that CTRL-V does "Paste Special" which inserts the text in its original indentation, regardless of the indentation at the cursor location. This may "work as designed" but not "as expected." @cl: please have a look.
I don't think that it behaves as specified (but maybe I got you wrong). When I paste from subitems (Font Size 20) to subitems on the same level (also Font Size 20) the result should have the font size 20. Or did you mean something else?

@cl: Issue 91408 describes a similar problem. Is it connected or duplicate?
fixed in cws impress177 for OOo 3.2
