If you are using tabs with fill characters (user defined) in the workspace 
only a withe rectangle. In presentation mode it is correct.
Please look the sample.

Problem exists for Windows and Linux.

Reproducible in m28 as well, attached two screenshots (edit mode and
presentation mode).

With OOo 3.1.0 Linux X64 mandriva 2008.1:
- edit mode is the same than the screenshot sample-editmode.png
- the fill Characters "ß" and "ü" aren't displayed in presentation mode.
