Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 90381
1 line Drop Caps Feature Request
Last modified: 2016-12-28 14:22:22 UTC
Allow drop caps to be set to the height of one line. Currently, 2 is the minimum. This would allow automatic first word styles to be "hacked" into a document.
This request is related to issue 1480, which was closed as WONTFIX, I disagree highly with the reasoning behind the resolution, and have left my comment on the issue, even though it is ancient.
Reassigned to requirements in order to discuss this RFE.
See also Issue 67704, esp. about the OASIS spec. If they haven't changed their minds, we should ask them to allow the value of "1" to do something useful.

I didn't see this post because i tried to search "initials", sorry for duplicated bug report. Thanks for little trick of line break with shift+enter to do it, but you have to do it manually.
Confirmed with AOO410m14(Build:9760) - Rev. 1573062 2014-03-01_04:11:01 - Rev. 1573123 Debian PS Format - Paragraph... - Drop Caps isn't working.

One line drop cap seems to me the correct default. This VERY much needed when writing poetry, for example, allowing for a freer layout.
