Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 8529
'dimension lines' move after a copy-paste into OOo Writer from OOo Draw
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:52:24 UTC
Steps: 1. Open Office Draw 2. Draw anything simple like say a square. 3. Attach a dimension line to it. U'll find the Dimension Line in the tool bar, under "Lines and Arrow" button. 4. Select all, then do Ctrl-C to copy it. 5. Open a new document in Office Writer and paste it with Ctrl-V (Normal paste, not the "Paste Special"). 6. You should see your drawing (square + its dimension line) properly. 7. save the Office Writer document with the normal file extension for OOo doc. 8. Close the document in Writer. Open it again 9. The square will be at the same place BUT the dimension line moved. It can move from a few inches up to 20 pages far away. You may not see the dimension line at all if it moved too far away. It can be located be selecting the drawing in the document and then by trying to locate the handles. A workaroud is to use the Paste Special. But still, it was working well in Star Office with a normal Paste, so it should work as well in OOo 1.0.1. The same issue will happen if you import a Star Office Writer Document 5.2 under OOo 1.0.1 containing a drawing w/ Dimension Lines.
This problem is reproduceable in version 1.0.1 but not in an actual internal one. This issue should be fixed in the OO 1.1 version. Thanks for your help!
