Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 84802
Option for exporting to cropped PDF (like EPS export)
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:36:27 UTC
When exporting a selection to an EPS file in OO Draw, the content is moved to the origin and a cropping bounding-box is automatically created (which is good). When exporting a selection to PDF, the content is left in its current position and the cropping/clipping bounding box is set to the full page. It would be very helpful to optionally have the PDF export work like EPS export. Even better IMHO would be to make this the default mode when exporting a selection, and still an option when exporting a whole page. Current workaround: export to EPS and then manually run epstopdf (on linux or using cygwin on Windows) to convert to PDF. Motivation: I create a lot of scientific/technical documents that require imported figures to be in PDF format. Non-clipped PDF files are tricky to use and doing so generally involves various hacks that either reduce the maintainability of files and/or are hard to get working cross-platform. While the OO Draw -> cropped EPS -> cropped PDF works, it would be nice to be able to directly do OO Draw -> cropped PDF (and hopefully it's easy to implement since the EPS export already does it).
When I select 'selection' in the pdf export the selection and the slide will be exported. In my mind only the selection should be exported without the slide.
