Confirming behavior with Novell's OO2.3.0.1 on Suse 10.3 - as described.
Happens with particular setting in Klipper - "Synchronize clipboard and mouse
selection" - see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=343801#c8
Also happens with other applications, for example Quanta Plus.
Based on that I think it is not fault of Office, but Klipper's fault.
