If i print a selection in calc on my epson lx300 dot matrix,
first it prints from the botton and leaves about half a page

Does the problem really occur only with you dot matrix printer ? If so
it would seem to be a ghostscript problem. If you can print to a file
and it shows the same on the screen, then this would be a calc problem.

i'll try the print to file but i think it looks more like a printer 
config problem to me. any suggestions for the epson lx300 would be 
welcome . i'm running red hat 7.1 and OO 1.0

pl->us: can you reprocduce this ? doesn't look like an OOo issue, more
like ghostscript

the problem was of the print driver in lprng
