Description timwi 2007-11-30 15:21:44 UTC
I would like the option "Check spelling as you type" in "Tools => Options =>
Language Settings => Writing Aids" to remain off.

Unfortunately, every time I run OpenOffice anew, the option is back on.

Please make it remember all settings when you quit and restart.

The button AutoSpellCheck changes the option "Check spelling as you type".
So if you push this button and close OOo, OOo exit with option checked and this
option is yet checked when you reopen OOo.
So OOo remember this settings when you quit and restart.

I think it's not a defect but you can submit an enhancement.

I'm not sure what you're saying, jbfaurem but that "OOo remembers this settings
when you quit and restart" is definitely false. I've tried it with the toolbar
button and it is still back on next time I run it.

I was conjecturing you was using the option "Check spelling as you type" for
AutoSpellCheck, and you wanted this option not be checked the next time you
open OOo.
It seems I misunderstood what you mean.
If you uncheck the option, close option dialog by OK, close OOo, reopen OOo and
the option is still checked, there is a problem. Perhaps a problem of write
right on configurations files. You can try to rename your OOo profile to force
OOo to create a new one.

I have admin rights and I have UAC turned off. I have installed OOo the
completely normal way and have not done anything unusual. Any such problem as
you describe must be caused by a bug in OOo that should be fixed.

Try recreating user profile. For that you need to close all
Office apps (including quickstarter), rename C:\Documents and
Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\openoffice2.org\user to something else
and start any office app. If that fixes the problem please zip the folder and
attach resulting file here.

Seems to be affected by a corrupted configuration. Should not happen anymore
with OOo 3.x.
