It would be very useful to have the ability to add glue points to connector
lines.  This way the user could create connectors that connect to other
connectors at places other than the two endpoints.  For example- it would be
possible to have what appears to be a single connector that connects to more
than two objects.

Indeed this is not possible, and could be worthwhile having. 
An issue could be that the glue points remember their location using the
bounding box around your graphic element.
You'll see that after setting a glue point on the side of a box, you do some
editing points/transform to polygon to transform it into a random shape.

You're not the only one: 
searching, 
not finding the former issue due to another description etc ....,
having some additional, positive comments to the issue,
getting the dreaded duplicate -> closed message
loosing the comments, and the additional work it took again.
It's depressing after a while.
(I forgot a step: a final message saying this channel isn't about complaining ;-)
