Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 80494
Text in shape is corrupted when saving to .sxi or .sxd
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:21:02 UTC
1. Create a new empty presentation. 2. Create a rectangle shape. 3. Select that shape, press F2 and enter some text like "abc". 4. Save the file as an .odg file and then as an .sxi file. 5. Open the .odg file and it will be fine. 6. Open the .sxi file and the text will disappear (or too small to be seen). 7. Select the shape and the handles will show that its upper left corner is now that of the page. So, something is wrong. I don't know if this is related to http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=74898
Sorry, I meant .odp file, not .odg. In fact, this exact problem occurs in the drawing application too. It occurs only when saving to .sxd file but not to .odg.
Created attachment 47410 [details] The .odp file which is fine
Created attachment 47411 [details] The .sxi file in which the text has disappeared

No, issue 74898 is a different problem. The sxi-format doesn't know custom shapes. Because other things are different in OOo1 presentation too, you cannot switch easily between OOo1 and OOo2 presentations. If you need to switch, you must be careful about what things are possible in both versions. The custom shape "rectangle" is exported as a group with a traditional rectangle and a separate text box. I would call it an "enhancement" to export such custom shapes directly to the corresponding traditional shapes. In OOo1 the drawing elements have got an text element too. Why not use it? The text box has got height and width of 0.01cm and wrong position. That is an error. I'm not sure about the component, I would guess 'Drawing'.
I think it's fine if the remains a group of rectangle and a text box, as long as the size and position remain unchanged. I found the problem when I opened a .ppt file and saved it as an .sxi file. So this is out of my control.
I can reproduce the bug. Please have a look.
