Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 78812
"*" as symbol cannot be found in Math Help
Last modified: 2007-11-01 17:08:47 UTC
Can't use "*" as a symbol, not as binery operator have to write "X^{{}*{}}" want to write "X^{*}" or "X^{\*}"
Why not write it as character? X^"*" I will close this as "worksforme" because issue 9167 was closed accordingly. Please reopen the issue, if you think, that the decision that * is an operator should be changed. This question is connected with the issues 21484 and 25573, which are about import the * from MathType.
closing like issue 9167 was closed
Even now when i know the solution i can't find it in help. There is no word about simbol in commas at the help page where? as it is said? is a _full_ list of operators, functions and format symbols. If you don't want to add the "\*" posibility (that is, i think, rather logicaly) even fix the help.
MRU->UFI: I also did not find a description for "text" syntax in the Formula editor help. Please add this somehow. Thanks a lot!
A new guide smath/guide/text.xhp should be written about entering any text that gets not interpreted as a command.
Wrote new file smath/guide/text.xhp in CWS hcshared10
Please verify in CWS hcshared10 Open Math help. Click "Instructions for using Math". It's the first link "Entering text"
Verified in CWS hcshared10.
