Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 76513
"Decimal places" option should move from "Calculate" to "View"
Last modified: 2010-10-17 08:00:22 UTC
This is an issue that probably is as old as the first versions of Staroffice, and besides it is not a fundamental issue. Nevertheless I feel it is worth mentioning it and it probably can be fixed easily if it is being considered valid. In OOo.Calc, Tools - Options - OOo.Calc, Calculate, the "Decimal Places" option does not belong under Calculate. This option just affects the (default) display of numbers and thus belongs under View. Yet I have also a more fundamental concern with the way the default view is handled in OOo Calc, but I will file this as a separate issue.
reassigning features and enhancements to user requirements@openoffice.org which will be the default owner for those tasks (was introduced some time ago)
Current versions of OOo handle default numbers a lot better. Options "Precision as shown" and "Limit decimals for general number formats" more clearly connect between calculation precision and what is displayed.
