Description jrtapper 2007-02-26 21:47:41 UTC
I have been using OO.org for about a year now and one of the things that has
always bugged me is that the File, Open dialog does not remember my settings
from one instance to the next. When I need to open several files individually
(typically while doing a Insert sheet from file) I have to re-set the view
(list, details, thumbnails, etc.) and the sort order (details view -> name,
date, type, etc) for every file I open. This is very tedious when I have to
open a number of files.

In my case, I prefer to see the files in detail view, sorted ascending by date
for virtually every time I open any file. I am sure others have different
preferences. It would be great if OO.org "remembered" the way I set this dialog
box the last time I used it.

Thanks for all of the hard work of this project and please let me know if you
need any more input on this.

jrtapper,
as far as I know OO simply calls Windows dialog. That dialog handles all of
the view tasks. You can set default view using Windows Explorer.

I am not a Windows programmer and do not know how all of the controls and calls
work but, I do know that in that "other" spreadsheet program (in the '97 version
at least) it does retain the user's last settings even if the program is closed
and re-opened. I know that other Windows programs exhibit this behavior as
well, so I assumed that it is a function that the programmer can control.

Thank you for your time.

Windows 2000 is out-of-date now.
