1) Turn the Status Bar off.
2) Save the document (XML format).
3) Status Bar reappears.
4) 
'View -> Status Bar' no longer functions.

Resultant problem:
This will also effect the 
state Status Bar on the next OpenOffice restart.
It can be either shown or hidden depending on 
what state it was left.
Problem description:
It's previous state can not be known as the 
'View -> Status Bar' "tick" ceases to display after performing the above operations.

Reprodcuible in SRX643w. 
It looks as if the progress bar switches the status bar on - forever.
