Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 7477
Lanscape printing prints portrait
Last modified: 2003-02-25 10:22:24 UTC
The following .rtf document: www.arcat.com/report/stats/overall.rtf will only print in portrait, not landscape. If you set it to print to landscape, it will print in portrait. I did get it to print in landscape by: going to 'file', 'page preview', clicking on the 'print options page view' button, set to landscape, 'ok' button, then I clicked on the 'print page view' button and the document printed in landscape. Please let me know if you need any additional details. Thanks OO, Bill bill@arcat.com
pl->ssa: could you have a look ?
It also works if you select 'Landscape' in Format->Page. I'll check why the driver settings aren't used.

I will check this bug with my recent changes.
First if one wants to change the page orientation this should always be done with "Format - Page..." and use the Page tab page. Using the printer settings is not useful as the application can overwrite it with the "Page format". You can set new page format values for every page. So this behavior works as designed. I talked with the Writer team and from our point of view it looks like the RTF document is broken. The document has a user format which is in real a letter/landscape format. I used the provided link and got a new RTF document which has a correct layout (letter/landscape). So this looks more like a problem that a broken RTF generator was used to create the document. We will fix the strange effect that the Office present the document in landscape orientation, but prints it in portrait orientation. So this behaviour violates the WYSIWYG metapher.
Changed the internal VCL code to better match user paper formats with printer paper formats. This fixes this problem and maybe others also.
CD->SBA: Please check the bugfix on CWS VCL05.
