Good morning

A very good feature of MS Word is to import many pictures at the one time as
characters. It is very convinient.

Confirming. Word's Insert, Picture, From File allows user to select many 
pictures at once. Writer does not allow this.

duplicate.

As a workaround you can create a gallery-theme for the folder with the pictures,
that way you can drag and drop the pictures from the gallery into the document
and don't have to open the filedialog everytime.
