Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 71907
Allow users to disable animations and slide transitions
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:11:31 UTC
It would be great if there were a checkbox labeled "Show animations and slide transitions" that users could uncheck. Hopefully this option would be easily discoverable, e.g. accessible from the menu bar. Usecase 1: Edna, a teacher, has a slow laptop. Excruciatingly slow. She wants to disable effects on her laptop so she can show the slideshows that her textbook's author emailed her at reasonable speed. Usecase 2: Jason, a computer enthusiast, wants to view a .PPT file he found on the web with nice large fonts (slideshow size.) But he doesn't want to have to click 5 times to view a slide. He wants the whole show to show up at once.

Ok, here you have it.
set target from 2.x to 3.x according to http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Target_3x
This is particularly appreciable when you receive joke emails with a presentation while a simple text file would do the job. Lots of people seems to like adding music and transition between a few text, dramatically slowing down the reading. So instead of laughing, you become frustrated !
Manuel, the "View > Outline" menu option would handle your use case too, though maybe not as well. I don't think it would show images.
jasonspiro : Hi, thanks for your tip. I can't use it anyway. Here is my use case. I got an email with my client (thunderbird, evolution, ...whatever), a presentation is attached. I double-click on the attachement, a box ask me if I want to save the file or just open it with the default software (OpenOffice of course) I have no opportunity to access the menu, the diaporama just starts (and I'm ok with this except for the fact I would be happy to override transition/effects)
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
