Description mbayer 2006-10-21 00:26:12 UTC
1. I downloaded OOo-2.1.188-en_US (9077) from
ftp://ftp.fu-berlin.de/unix/X11/apps/openoffice/developer/680_m188

2. The archive's MD5 check sum was 9170c4a2a3690d1b1f6fb8a8d3ad172e

3. As root, I installed any of the RPM files the archive contained and ran
SuSEconfig

4. As user, I issued /opt/ooo-dev2.1/program/swriter in an xterm (KDE terminal)

5. I completed the first start wizard normally

6. The splash screen was visible for a few seconds...

7. ...but than the crash reporter appeared.

I sent the crash report (once), but then I got into a loop of crash report -
file restoring - crash report and so on. The only way to stop OOo was to issue a
SIGTERM (^c) in the terminal where it was running in the foreground.

This means I was unable to start OOo 2.1.188 under Linux at all.

The system was a fully patched SuSE 10.1 on an Intel P3, KDE desktop 3.5.5, a
fresh profile (no pre-existing ${HOME}/.ooo-dev2) in a LANG='de_DE.UTF-8'
environment.

I'm sorry I can't give you the number of my crash report, as I did not got any
response yet. However, I used my OOo mail account for submitting (which of
course means mbayer@openoffice.org).

Thanks for fixing
Martin

confirmed, I can reproduce this behaviour on two different linux systems
(downloaded the file from stardiv server)

I can install and finish the first start wizard, but OOo crashes at once when I
try to open a document or create a new one.

This problem is only reproducible with the SUN-build.

Get the same behaviour with Fedora Core 5. Using KDE 3.5.4 (from
ftp://apt.kde-redhat.org/apt/kde-redhat/fedora/5/i386/). Currently running OO
2.0.4 (from http://gulus.usherbrooke.ca/pub/appl/openoffice/) with no problem.
OOo -2.1.288 was downloaded from same source. My way of getting out of loop was
to delete /opt/OO dev directory. Did send the error report.
Comment 4 mbayer 2006-10-22 22:49:11 UTC
I'm sorry I was mistaken about my KDE version (in case this makes any
difference): my test system on that OOo-2.1.188 always crashed runs KDE 3.5.1
Level 'a'.

TM->HDU: Reproducible ! Occurs only under KDE, when using Gnome everything is
OK. Please have a look, thanks.

Duplicate to issue 69725, which is fixed in CWS vcl67 => most probably for m190

*** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 69725 ***
Comment 7 hdu@apache.org 2006-10-26 10:19:02 UTC
Closing duplicate.

The CWS with the fix didn't make it into SRC680_m190 yet.
