Description anieden 2006-10-09 14:25:14 UTC
Please try the following steps:
* Create a new Writer document.
* Type some text in the first line.
* Apply some character formatting to the text (bold face, for example).
* Place the cursor at the end of the line and press Shift-Enter to insert a line
break.
* You now have a second line. Press Ctrl-Shift-Space to reset the character
formatting for this second line.
* Type some text. It comes out without hard character formatting (bold face in
our example), which is correct.
* Move to the end of the first(!) line.
* Press Shift-Enter again to insert an additional line.
* In that new line (between the upper line with character formatting and the
lower line without formatting), press Ctrl-Shift-Space to reset formatting for
this new line.
* Type some text and observe that character formatting has *not* been reset,
which I think is a bug.

At least it might be somehow unexpected, but currently I do not think so. I did
some tests (with "2.0.2 German version WIN XP: [680m5(Build9011)]" ) and it
seems that the shortcut always works like Menu "Format - Standard".

Help says: "Removes direct formatting _from_selected_text_ or objects", and
there isn't anything selected in the report after second "Shift Enter". To me it
seems to be a special case that it woks directly in front of the end of the
paragraph.

Ah, I wasn’t aware of the fact that Ctrl-Shift-Space is only meant for
selections. I believed it to be more like Ctrl-T in Lotus Notes, which you can
use while typing. It will reset the character styles from the point on where it
is pressed (and also works on selections).
In Writer, Ctrl-Shift-Space sometimes seems to work that way, too (see the first
instance in the original example), but not consistently so. I think this should
be made consistent in one direction or the other, but agree perfectly with this
being a P4 problem.

MRU->OS: new document, set hard format for e.g. "Bold" char format, type some
text and enter a line break, call "Format.Default formatting" and type some text
-> format is correctlöy resetted.
Now place cursor again at end of first line and enter another line break -> now
"Default formatting" will not work anymore

Checked in 2.3.1 and 2.4-Dev
Works OK there, so seems to be fixed ..
