OK, we checked the server eis.services.openoffice.org and it is working fine, serving the EIS application without any problems. Going to check the network next.
There seems to be some problem with the firewall configuration here. Trying to get our IT to fix it...
This seems to be an issue related to firewall rules configuration. As interim solution I'm switching back to fallback firewall to enable external access to eis.services.openoffice.org.
We can see the webpages, but we can't login - probably because it doesn't have access to CVS login?
Loosk like this is now fixed. We can log in now. Thanks. Now: what to do to prevent such outages lasting three days?
We probably have to check some essential services, like eis.services.openoffice.org, when changing anything concerning the network or server configuration around external services. Don't know yet whether we can use a test script or whether a check-list will do.
As tinderbox uses EIS via SOAP to get the taglists, you could monitor http://go-oo.org/tinderbox/tags/ and compare the dates with the timestamp of the files (or compare the contents with a inhouse generated list)
Before we close this off, can we check that this change has also fixed the broken "Help -> Check for Updates" functionality within OOo? Apologies that technical issues prevent me checking it out... Thanks - John
The Online Update Notification works fine now - tested for Win 2.2.0/en-US.
closing issue, feel free to re-open if another outage should occur
