Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 68212
No AutoCaption when inserting a graphic with drag & drop
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:05:10 UTC
In tools-options ... automatic caption is activated. This has only effect, if you insert a graphic over menu insert or toolbar 'tools'. If you use drag & drop no caption will be created.
MRU->OS: as described, no AutoCaption will be added when a picture is inserted via drag and drop e.g. from WInExplorer.
With OOo 3.0 Autocaption will be inserted when adding a picture per Drag&Drop. Please check yourself and close this issue if you can confirm.
In OOo 3.0, drag+drop from Windows Explorer works (AutoCaption is inserted). On Solaris, this does not work, neither on Linux (MROE tested on Ubuntu 8.04 with Gnome/Nautilus. Setting "OperationSystem" to Unix, X11.

Still doesn't work reliably for me with OOo 3.1.1 and 3.2 (Linux + Windows). Sometimes it works but I can't reproduce it. The bug also appears when inserting objects via clipboard and not just when using drag&dop.
Bug still exists in AOO 3.4.1 OS: Kubuntu 12.10 64bit
Bug still exists in AOO 4.1.1 OS: Ubuntu 14.10

I tested it with: AOO414m1(Build:9784) - Rev. 1781705 2017-02-25_12:44:26 - Rev. 1784375 Bug still exists as described, but I found another behavior: AutoCaption works inserting a graphic from the gallery with drag&drop but not when you use the context menu (copy/link) of the graphic. OS: Ubuntu 16.10 64bit
