Description martho 2002-08-02 07:45:33 UTC
Making a new form with one numeric input-field, I discovered that you cannot
input something into the field. The default value is displayd correctly, but
when pressing any key or clicking the spin-control, the input-field is cleared
completly instead of showing the new value.

The sample-dialogs show the same error (for example the scheduler or the burger-
factory).

I verifyed this on OO 1.0.1/Win2000 and OO 1.0.0/Win98. A user of the newsgroup
verifyed it on OO 1.0.1/Linux.

TM->SBA: Seems to be more a writer-issue than a framework-issue to me.
Please have a look, thanks !

Also appears in the form-editor ("dialog-editor").

The following steps can input and change the value in a numeric-field.

Step1: Click ¡§Form¡¨ and choose ¡§numerical-field¡¨.
Step2: Drag the size of Form.
Step3: Choose From, and click right icon of mouse, choose ¡§control¡¨
then you can type default value.
Step4: Close the dialog of control, you will see the default value
       is showing in the Form.
Step5: When you want to change the value, you need to go back step3
       and step4.

The problem is when you save the file, close it, and re-open the
file, the Form looks like you can change the value directly.
However, I believe you will not succeed.

What you can do is follow step1, step3 then you can change the
default value now.
Usually, the ¡§Design Mode¡¨ is off at this time, you need to change
it to on before you do step1.

Does this resolve the problem?

Unfortunatly not, I think you misunderstood me. The problem is not to
change the default-value in design-mode. The problem is that I want
to input something when I'm not in design mode, and this doesn't
work, neither in a dialog done in starbasic nor in a writer document,
which is not in design-mode. With a text-field (which accepts any
input) it works fine, but a numeric-field doesn't accept any input
here.

Sorry, to make this clear:

text-field: Should accept any input and does accept any input.
numeric-field: Should accept only numbers, but doesn't accept any
input.

Bug duplicated on Windows Me/ OO 1.0.1.

Numerical field doesn't accept any input after you clear the default
value.
Besides, I noticed if the form contain an option button field, you
can only select the option button and cannot clear it.

(I am doing course work of "softwork testing")

Comment 9 christoph.lukasiak 2002-11-28 11:42:53 UTC
sorry, i can't reproduce that behavior - i also can't find a deeper
reason for your behavior - it must be another problem, that is not
described with your text - sorry, but in such a case i can only close
this bug

CLU: feel free to reopen or write a new bug if you have further
intuition
