Hi, 
The menu entry Insert -> Slide should be Insert -> Page. 
In the Page Pane, there is also Slide1 displayed, but Rename Page or New Page in
the contextual menu.
Even in the translation, this lead to some confusion. For example for the FR
release, the menu entry is Insert > Slide, but also Insert > Duplicate Page.
