Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 66517
Give user control about default format when pasting from clipboard
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:43:08 UTC
In some cases one would like to have text only pasting from the clipboard and in others "rich" text would be suited more. It would be nice, if this could be set in the options or in the menu easily. When I have lot of copy paste into formatted text I would like to have unformated input. When I am pasting paragraphs between similarly formated documents, most format information should be kept. The "add content" in the Edit menu needs too many clicks for multiple inputs. Distinctions 1.) within the same document pasting should keep the formating 2.) between applications it should be either "rich preferred" or "unformatted preferred"
Desired is an option where the user could control the default format for pasting from Clipboard. MRU->MGUENTER: with a long click on the "paste" button, a dropdown menu with the available formats will open.
Thanks for the information. I didn't notice, because I never use anything but the keyboard shortcuts. All accelerator features should support keyboard shortcuts as well. I still think (my humble and lonely opinion) that it would be a good idea.

As a heavy Writer user, I NEVER do anything other than Paste Unformatted. Based on what I read on various OpenOffice and MS forums, most heavy word processor users are intensely frustrated by not being able to set Paste Unformatted as the default Paste behaviour, while light users tend to prefer the current default behaviour. All the suggested work-arounds I have seen are nowhere as convenient as changing the default behaviour would be. A setting or (series of settings) that control the default behaviour would be a huge asset.
