Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 66038
Make table indexing easier - enable object indexing without captions

By default OO.o do not create tables which can be indexed. You need to add a legend/name to the table after it's created. I'd be way better to systematically associate a hidden label/number to each table (which can be optionnally turned into a legend that will be displayed in the document next to the table, but this display should not conditionnalise the indexing of the table itself)
It should be possible to have an index of objects (e.g. tables or graphics) without having captions at it. Instead, the objects name stored in its properties should be used.
If you do that you need to allow spaces in object names
