Description pplwong 2006-05-30 16:09:40 UTC
The component being circled by the red circle in my screenshot (the "quick
start" component in the component selection screen) has some display problem. It
should be 「快速啟動」. However, the third word: 「啟」,is displayed as 「?」.

Hi pplwong,
Can you please re-type the string below in UTF-8 encoding.
The chinese chars are appearing as ?'s to me.
"「啟」,is displayed as 「?」"

Also does this bug refer to Traditional or simplified Chinese?
Thanks,
ian

Hi pplwong,

I just want to make sure that it should be "啟" or "啓".

Because I can see descriptions such as "系統啓動時" and "2.0的啓動時間" on the
screenshot you attached.

For "快速?動", "?" can be "啓"? or "?" must be "啟"?

啟 or 啓
Comment 6 pplwong 2006-06-14 14:56:34 UTC
iano,
It's for Traditional Chinese build.
The word is should be in UTF-8 already since I can see it on this utf-8 page.
「快速啟動」
Can you see the word now? (if not, I'll just try to email to you)

khirano~
The word on the right in your picture is correct.

(The first one is just a different way to write the same word. Some font maker
may choose the first word instead of the second, though the second is more
common. May be you see the first one because it's used in Japanese font or
something?)

Thanks

an idea on which letter should be used
Comment 8 khirano 2006-06-15 07:17:54 UTC
Hi pplwong and iano,

Please take a look at the attachment above.
Let us call "the letter on the left" as "the letter No.1."
Let us call "the letter on the right" as "the letter No.2."

I think iano can see "No.2." on this issue.
You can see "啓", can't you, iano?

But he can not see "No.1." because his system doesn't have fonts which contain
"No.1," I guess.

Anyway why don't we use ”快速啓動" for "Quickstarter"?

Because you will find "快速啓動" when you go to Option -> OpenOffice.org -> Memory.
I have confirmed this with the following language pack:
http://oootranslation.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/2.0.3rc5/OOo_2.0.3rc5_060531_Win32Intel_langpack_zh-TW.exe

Hi pplwong,
Would you please confirm which character should be used?
Once you help to confirm, I'll modify other strings to keep consistency.
Comment 11 pplwong 2007-06-02 16:59:19 UTC
Both words are correct, but I'll choose no.1.
Comment 12 blueice7 2007-06-06 07:24:41 UTC
pplwong,
Thank you for confirming.
I'll proceed to fix strings to keep consistency..
