Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 65600
"File -> Send -> Document as e-mail..." - confusing and inconsistent wording
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:31:14 UTC
In File->Send you will see the string "Document as e-mail" as well as "E-mail as OpenDocument/MS Word/PDF" Is the first string (ie. "Document as e-mail") still neccessary? If so, I think the wording should be aligned/adjusted. The verb in the first case is the "Send" from the menu group while "e-mail" in the latter. Søren
SBA: (1) All entries make sense. The first one sends the current document in its current format as attachment (i.e. .sxw or .txt format) The others convert the current file tthe respective format. You are right that when you have an .odt document open, these two entries "Document as e-mail" and "E-mail as opendocument text" do the same (attaching odt) For details of these entries, please have a look at the respective specification: http://specs.openoffice.org/appwide/send_document_as_email/send_document_as_e-mail_-_ms_file_format_support.odt PLease note that the corresponding Online help description did not make it into OOo 2.03 but will be updated for OOo 2.04. (2) I agree that the entry "File | Send | Document as E-mail..." Does NOT tell everybody that the file is going to be ATTACHED to an E-mail in its current format. Especially because the wording is inconsistent to the other entries below (These DO tell better what will happen). I adjusted the summary to reflect the findings. SBA->MMP: You were part of the iTeam specifying this. Please re-think the target milestone and proceed.
retarget to 2.x. Implemantation does not match with the spec. Engineering has promissed to fix this for an upcomming minor release.
according to release status meeting -> target 3.x
I am no longer officially active on OOo. Please take over.
