How to advance on MS-Office?

Dear open office friends, copying MS is not always the best way of making the
best product. In this writing i will advice you about some possibilities I see
to improve Open Office in functionality in such a way it will stand out to MS
Office in these new functionality.

Base better
Base could made much better if a runtime viewer would exist. What I mean is
this. The forms made with Base look great, but one would like to make them web
ready immediate. One would like to run them on a server linked into a MySQL,
ORACLE or other RDBMS. Obviously a login module would be needed also. Since the
platform OOo is based on is java, this should possible with some effort.
On other kind of object one would like to be able to work this way are charts.

Two items for better user friendliness
jdbc connectivity. This is to complex for normal users to set up. U suggest to
select a standard place (directory) to put the drivers in. Make a reference list
e.g. Database x needs driver y. If the needed driver is not in the standard
directory give a clear error “xxx drive not found in c:\sss\rrr\†or “xxx driver
not found in /sss/rrr/â€.
Language support. It is confusing to go to options to change the language of a
document or paragraph. One would like to do this directly from the menu.

clu->boudi2: thank you for your support, but please poste in future time in a
proper way: http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/basic_rules.html - in this
issue i take the first idea to create a senseful summary - for the rest, please
write seperate issues

- one idea per feature enhancement issue
- no 'privat storys' but a sensful description

thx
