Description Unknown 2002-07-03 17:21:43 UTC
Have downloaded OpenOffice 1.0.0, installed following instructions on the
openoffice.org website, first as root using install, and then from a 'normal'
user account first as a network installation and second as a local
installation. In each case on trying to start OpenOffice the splash screen
comes up and then disappears, without any further application window showing.
If started from a shell in the user openoffice directory, the message 'aborted'
appears, but no more details.

Should add, we have had it working on other installations.

Reassigned to SBA

You uses gnome? There is a problem with gnome. Please read to this
in openoffice.discuss postings to "OO terminates after startup" -
date 02.07 and 03.07. - possibly the posting from Caolan McNamara
will be helpful.
Comment 4 Unknown 2002-07-08 09:06:51 UTC
No, using KDE 2 as installed by the default SuSe installation.
Comment 5 Unknown 2002-07-08 14:00:57 UTC
Also, I have tried the
unset SESSION_MANAGER
'fix', and it has no effect. Problem remains unchanged.
Comment 6 Joost Andrae 2002-07-17 13:56:41 UTC
Joost: on my SuSE 7.2 it is no issue. The application starts.
Joost->Mike: please give some more details about your system
configuration (esp. graphic device, XFree86 version (I updated my
system to XFree86 4.2).
Comment 7 Unknown 2002-07-23 09:21:09 UTC
I'm using Xfree86 4.0.3-35; default with Suse Linux 7.2.
Device is Intel I815 (as detected by SAX2)
