Description edurup 2006-02-15 14:53:32 UTC
Initial context of issue :
Original doc format -> odt
Writing doc format -> Docbook xml

If one re-opens the Docbook xml document immediately it seems correct in word
processing interface. But if one saves it once more, WITHOUT ANY CHANGE, in
Docbook xml format many parts of it disappear.

Sample document saved (xml source):
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE article PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DocBook XML V4.1.2//EN"
"http://www.oasis-open.org/docbook/xml/4.1.2/docbookx.dtd">
<article lang="fr-FR"><sect1><title>Titre 1</title><sect2><title>Titre
2</title><sect3><title>Titre 3</title>
<para>Texte</para></sect3></sect2></sect1></article>

Document re-open and re-saved (xml source) :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE article PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DocBook XML V4.1.2//EN"
"http://www.oasis-open.org/docbook/xml/4.1.2/docbookx.dtd">
<article lang="fr-FR">
<para>Titre 1</para>
<para>Titre 2</para>
</article>

I can join the screen shot with re-opened document with normal appearance and
the original .odt format.

Regards,
Etienne Durup

No P1. DocBook XML is an experimental demonstration filter with limited
functionality. Evaluation will follow.
Comment 6 simos.bugzilla 2006-02-15 22:53:10 UTC
edurup, you can also try
http://www.indesko.com/en/downloads/ooo2dbk
(it appears to be a one-way tool, from OOo to DocBook XML).
Comment 7 jogi 2006-02-16 08:05:53 UTC
Evaluation: Yes, the formatting is gone, content is not destroyed -> P3
Target evaluation: AFAIK no resources in the community and no active work on
that filter -> OOo Later
Assigning: SUS, your turn but I think you won't retarget it?!
Comment 8 jogi 2006-02-16 08:06:57 UTC
Info: Also happening in pre-OOo 2.0.2 builds.
Comment 9 edurup 2006-02-16 22:23:10 UTC
Hi,

ok for no P1 it's right.

However P2->P3 because no data destroyed... What do you mean here ?
In original doc (.odt) ? Yes that's right.

In reloaded XML document ? Right too.
But if I save it once more... see the test_from_OooW_ROooW.xml and compare with
the first one : test2_OooW.xml.

In joined test2_OooW.xml a lot of data disappears.

In other words if one works in .xml doc and reload it in Ooo for further
editing, hi looses the job. But I've perfectly understood the experimental
aspect said by jsi.

Thanks too for the link but as one-way tool the work make by Ooo is ok. I can
load it in XMLMind XML Editor and produce a correct XHTML multi-page output. I
think the bug is in the reimport job (reload).

Thank's for all and sorry for my bad english. I hope you can understand me
without too big effort.

Comment 11 svante.schubert 2007-06-20 20:58:54 UTC
The heading styles have not been added, when the docbook section have been
imported, I furthermore added the heading styles for outline levels 1 to 4.

Thanks for the nice example documents.

Works in CWS XSLTFILTER08 patch.

Test scenario:
1) Save test2.odt to docbook.
2) Reopen test2.xml, the styles should be the same.
