Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 61337
"Entire page" view should show only one page
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:32:18 UTC
Writer has a zoom factor called "Entire page" view. When user selects this, the current page is shown on screen. In addition, small portions of previous and next pages are also shown. This is OK, except that this interferes with the page up/page down functions: The pages scroll up/down in such a way that the gap between the pages rolls upwards/downwards gradually. IMHO this is contrary to the expectation of the user: In this view, pressing of the "Page up" or "Page down" key should place the previous/next page at EXACTLY the same spot on screen (no rolling). The display should show only one page at a time (no partial pages). Such display would be especially useful to check the overall layout of the page. It is also useful in checking out a particular part of the page (top/bottom/left mergin etc), as we rapidly flip through the pages. (That part will appear at the same spot on screen). In other words, the current display is like Acrobat Reader in 'Continuous" mode. Change it to Acrobat Reader in "Single page" mode.

this requirement was pointed out again by the user in Japan. Japanese issuetracker: http://oooug.jp/faq/index.php?faq/4/425
This issue was solved by the extension released in Japan. The author is ike@Kyushu.Japan san. The extension can be downloaded from the following URL. Language is japanese(euc-jp) only. Please download scrollpage2.oxt. http://oooug.jp/faq/index.php?plugin=attach&pcmd=list&refer=faq%2F4%2F425
Thanks, but how do we use Japanese application? Also, the extension needs to be absorbed in the main OOo.
Hi, raindrops. Web page is japanese, but scrollpage2.oxt is not japanese. Could you assign pgup/pgdown macro in the short cut. (e.g. Ctrl+p/Ctrl+n)
Oh I see. Thanks!
This issue i was logged for OOo 2.0.1 four years ago. Today we have 3.2.1 and we face a different situation: - the bug 'top of next page is visible' only appears on certain platforms (Mac) but not on all (Solaris/Sparc) - the issue is logged as an RFE to create a new interface to be able to scroll page by page. Such an interface is already n place with the 'Previous page' and 'Next page' buttons on the right hand side. All that is left of the original issue is that the bug is still existing on certain platforms. That means: either the issue needs to be corrected (bug instead of RFE) and reduced to fixing the bug or a new issue needs to be openend to clearly state the pending issue.
