Description raindrops 2006-01-27 07:40:37 UTC
Moving a graphic into a frame is not easy. The normal drag-n-drop does not work.
The user has to follow a long-winded approach:
1. select a graphic
2. Press CTRL+X to cut it
3. Click outside the frame
4. Click inside the frame
5. Press CTRL+V to paste the graphic in the frame.

(Note that step-3 is an odd step; but without that, Writer does not allow
editing of a frame)

Desired: Allow user to directly drag-n-drop a graphic into a frame. When the
image is over the frame, its anchor should show up in the frame; just like how
it shows up in a table.

you can drag and drop the anchor into the frame... this also moves the image to
the frame
Comment 4 raindrops 2006-01-30 05:06:24 UTC
Well, that may be good as a workaround, but it is not intuitive, because the
anchor is never dragged for normal moving of images.

In the WYSIWYG culture, the image should be dragged; not its anchor, which is
abstract.

BTW I don't think this is addressed in the manuals (as a tip).

Drag and drop into a frame will work (as lars also mentioned).
Currently, moving a graphic into a frame (incl. anchor) is not supported; the
"snapping" algorithm has to be enhaced to also recognize frame content to snap
the anchor there.
