Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 60304
Text is initially not inverted in documents with floating frame
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:17:53 UTC
To reproduce: Create a new writer or html-document and insert some text and a floating frame. Save this document and reload it. If you now try to select this text it will not be inverted. Meanwhile I detected that it isn't important to save the document. If you try to select a text directly after inserting the floating frame it will not be inverted, too
The reason that we don't have a selection in a floating frame is that they are read only (this was different in OOo1.x). Of course we can select in readonly documents but in case of a floating frame it would mean we had to send an "activate" event to the document and this will switch the complete UI to readonly. So we have the following choices: - live with the current behavior - activate floating frames once clicked into it and try to keep the UI as it is - enable Writer to select on inactive views As the first option seems to be inacceptable at least for the submitter ;-) the third one would be quite some work and possibly would create new problems we will go for the second one. As this has to be done in the framework I will take this over (target will be 2.x).
As it turned out this bug was fixed by applying some fixes for issue 66239
please verify
adjust target
It was not possible to fix all problems in the CWS inplaceobjects in time so all tasks will be moved to the next release.
HDE->MBA: Due to obvious misunderstandings in bug description I give an updated description: 1. Open a writer document 2. Write some text 3. Insert a floating frame 4. point cursor at end of text entered in 2. 5. Save document 6. reload document 7. if you now select the text, it will not be inverted
.
according to release status meeting -> target 3.x
