Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 58643
Standard abbreviations are not included by default
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:34:58 UTC
There's a big default list of commonly used abbreviations in AutoCorrect, however some VERY IMPORTANT are missing, e.g. the "e.g." (which means "for example") and the "i.e." (i.e. "that is") are not there by default. :)
I think it is not desired to replace these abbreviations by full words in general as they are expressions on their own. They are included in the spellchecker.
Reassigned to SBA.
You are right, these abbreviations should not be replaced by full words, however they should be in the list of abbreviations (no subsequent capital). Otherwise when you type: Math, i.e. mathematics In default OO configuraion, this will be replaced by Math, i.e. Mathematics (mathematics -> Mathematics) which is wrong. It is not difficult to add them manually (I already did), but there's a certain percentage of users who do not know how to do that.
eg. got added after issue 19011, however this was apparently the only one. I leave this issue to deal with the rest.
SBA: Confirmed. Reassigned to requirements. Note: I closed issue 19011.
