Description kimelo 2005-10-26 09:19:22 UTC
Hi,

impress seems to crash each time when I try to replace an text area including
the _last_ lines/entry of an outline by pasting a new text. It seems to be
related to the paste function, because deleting the same are works just fine.

After ca. 10 crashes I decided to switch back to Oo 1.1.5, which seems to work
more stable...

I use OO 2.0 (finnish localisation), but I have encountered this problem with
2.0RC, too. My system is SuSE 9.3 Pro + KDE 3.4.2.

Kind regards,

Kimmo

Can you add a bugdoc and/or a detailed step by step description of your action?
Thanks in advance.

Hi again,

My previous information how to reproduce the bug was not enough. Here
additional information how to reproduce the bug:

1) Select and copy a text for pasting

2) In OOo Impress, select the _whole_ content of an outline

3) Paste the clipboard content in order to replace the outline's content.
Impress should now crash!

Once again, sorry for the incomplete information. I hope this additional
information helps You to reproduce the bug.

Greetings from Finland
Kimmo

I failed to reproduce this. (PC, Fedora 4 Linux, OOo2.0)

I opened a new presentation and added some text (specifically as a bullet). I
then selected and copied the new text. I then changed to the outline view and
selected the entire text of the outline and pasted in the text previoulsy copied
text. It worked as expected and OOo did not crash. Did I miss a step?

Hi again,

I have tried to find out more facts about the bug and the bug seems to be
related to OOo 1.1.x presentations. The copy-and-paste works perfectly with
"pure" OOo2 presentations, but the bug seems to be reproduceable
with .sxi-presentations created with the OOo 1.1.x and edited with OOo2. So
please try to reproduce the bug with a .sxi-file!

@kimelo
Please attach a test document and contirbute a document-related step by step
instruction how to reproduce the crash!

Pls also tell whether you tried to contribute bugdoc error report?
Comment 6 Rainer Bielefeld 2005-11-29 19:04:52 UTC
I checked with “2.0 German version WIN XP: [680m3(Build8968)]†and was able to
reproduce the crash with 2 testfiles I received from reporter, but not with
tests I did with own files created with 1.1.4. I hope "kimelo" will also attach
his files here.

I created an error report with comment "This is an error report for OOo issue
56691".
Comment 7 kimelo 2005-11-29 19:14:44 UTC
I have attached two files (oo_crahstest.sxi and oo_crashtest_1.sxi). Do the
following:
1) Open the file oo_crashtest_1.sxi;
2) select the whole content of the outline and copy it;
3) open the file oo_crashtest.sxi;
3) select the whole content of the outline of the slide #2;
4) Paste...

At this point, OOo2 should crash. I have tested this at least ten times
and each time OOo has crashed.

Hope this helps! Kind regards,
Kimmo

Still not reproducible here with src680m3 under Suse 9.2. Do you use a special
localized version?
Comment 12 wolframgarten 2005-12-01 12:36:24 UTC
Sorry, just saw your comment from the beginning. I will ask a developer...
Comment 13 wolframgarten 2005-12-01 12:58:21 UTC
@rainerbielefeld: the developer told me that the stack you generated ("This is
an error report for OOo issue 56691") shows that th writer is crashing. Do you
still remember what you did with the writer in that circumstance? Thanks.
Comment 14 Rainer Bielefeld 2005-12-01 13:40:21 UTC
@wg:
Funny thing. To avoid any interaction I did my test again with no other
documents open tan both test presentations.

The crash was reproducible again, I sent a second crash report and will also
attach it here as .txt.

Comment 16 Rainer Bielefeld 2005-12-04 07:51:38 UTC
Ir remains inscrutable: I checked with “2.0 (1.9.m122) German version WIN 98SE:
[680m122(Build8941)]†and was not able to reproduce the crash.

On my WIN XP PC with 2.0 it's still 100% reproducible.
Comment 17 Rainer Bielefeld 2005-12-05 18:08:45 UTC
I checked with 2 versions on my PC:

“2.0 German version WIN XP: [680m3(Build8968)]â€: Crash still reprodcible 100%
“2.0.1 RC2 German version WIN XP: [680m143(Build8986)]†Crash not reproducible
(tried 5 times)

But, of course, we can not be sure that this is really "fixed" for future, may
be we only have the effect that some versions crash, others do not cras.
Comment 18 kimelo 2005-12-13 13:16:07 UTC
Hi,

the bug seems not anymore to be reproduceable with 2.0.1 RC 4 (src680m145,
Finnish localisation from ftp://ftp.linux.cz/pub/localization/OpenOffice.org/
devel/680/2.0.1-RC4, on SuSE Linux 9.3 Pro+KDE 3.5.0). I have tested it several
times and could not cause OOo to crash. I hope someone could confirm this with
the same RC on the same platform. Thanks.

Kind regards,
Kimmo
