Description einstienindia 2005-08-24 09:00:12 UTC
1> open a new document (calc , writer ..anything) from terminal.
2> write some text in the document.
3> wait for autosave time (tools->options->load save ->general) For testing I
make it to 1 min. I also selected always create a backup copy.

4> Do a ctrl-c to simulate the crash.
5> relaunch OOo. It will ask for crash recovery.
Case 1: Cancel pressed.
       - press "cancel". it prompts for another confirm message. Cleck "Yes".
Still the save dialog is shown ?

Case 2: Start recovery
      - Press start recovery. "Cancel" button is disabled. Now if I press
cancel. All the document are recovered.

Expected behaviour:
Case 1 : After the confirmation. There should not be any more question/dialogs
to save/recover.
Case 2 : Cancel button should be enabled once a user starts recovering. So as to
cancel the long list of document to be saved (Assume 10 documents). Or maybe a
way to select say 2 docs out of 10 which a user can save.

The patch tries to address the "case 1". Where a "save dialog" won't be shown to
the user (after the confirmation of the "Cancel" button).

First thanks for your patch and your support for OOo.
But sorry - your patch isnt realy acceptable. Because the bahviour of AutoRecovery
was specified to work exactly in this way. Please have a look on
http://specs.openoffice.org/appwide/recovery/Autorecovery.sxw

Regards

Please note for case 2:
Showing all documents after the dialog is closed does not mean, that all these
documents was recovery at this time. The algorithm is the following:
a) Show the recovery dialog and let the user select "Recover" or "Cancel"
b) on "Next" load all documents in a hidden (!) state, so they dont hide the dialog
and the user cant influence the recovery handling
c) if dialog will be closed - show all loaded documents.

Note further: If you have any questions regarding the OOo AutoRecovery feature
please dont discuss it inside an OOo issue. Please use our mailing lists instead.
E.g. dev@framework.openoffice.org would be a good place doing so.
