Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 53451
"Display changes" active/reactivated even when switched off before
Last modified: 2005-08-26 13:45:50 UTC
The issue I would like to describe now of is of the brand "doesn't keep me or the program from working, but gets on my nerves". In some conditions, the word processor (Writer) doesn't seem to realize or memorize that I switched off the "display changes" function - or as it is called in the German version I use in the menu: "Bearbeiten -> Änderungen -> anzeigen". I took a look into the issues DB, and a quick browse didn't show me that something previously entered was matching, so I opened a new issue. If it's a double one, I am sorry. But I am still working to finish my thesis, and time is getting short now... The setting: A diploma thesis previously edited in OOo 1.1.4, 40 to 50 pages, some graphics, some tables, some formula inside, literature DB, stuff like image list and table list activated. "Display change" was activated for some time, but then switched off - in OOo 1.1.4. The file still is rather compact, 500 to 800 kB. I imported it into OOo 1.9.79 sometime ago, because OOo 1.1.4 seemed to have a hard time with this file and kept crashing more or less constantly. OOo 1.9.79 seems to be a little more stable. Sometimes OOo 2.0 beta (1.9.79 version at the moment) just reactivates the "display changes" function without being asked to do so. A number of times this happened when opening this file. Another number of times it happened after chosing something to do from the menu. Like adding an image or a literature reference. I could not see a reproducible scheme in this yet. As I said before, continuing editing is no problem. Yet I do not want the "colorful" appearance given when "display changes" is activated. It happens less often now - once a week or so, not every 10 or 15 minutes - than the time before. The file has been saved in different versions with different names, the content is still the same. Best regards, Mathias
