Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 5340
OpenOffice modifies Turkish characters when saving as a different format
Last modified: 2003-01-30 16:11:51 UTC
I'm using OpenOffice.org 1.0.0 Turkish for Windows, unmodified, taken from H.Z's site. I open a PPT file containing Turkish charackters. Then from the menu, Save As -> Save As Type: Microsoft PowerPoint 97/2000/XP. As I open the newly created MS PowerPoint file with PowerPoint, I see that none of the Turkish characters are preserved, they're all converted to English characters instead, i.e i dotless (ý) is converted to i g breve (ð) is converted to g etc.
DL->SJ: Would you please takeover?
Currently I am not able to reproduce this bug. So it will be good if you attach a PPT file that contains some of these Turkish characters. And can you please say on which plattform you are having this problem, because this Issue is flagged for Linux plattform and you sad in your bug description that you were using the OpenOffice 1.0.0 Windows version.
SJ->CGU: Can you please takeover this issue and try if you are able to reproduce this bug. There is still a bugdoc missing, so please close this issue if you can't.
I can't reproduce the bug. Please attach a document to reproduce the bug.
Created attachment 4321 [details] A powerpoint file created by OpenOffice.org 643 / Linux including Turkish characters
The attached file includes g breve and i dotless. There's no problem when I open the resultant ppt file with MS Office 2002. The problem occurs when opened with Office 97
Afaik is PowerPoint 97 not unicode compliant.
I close the issue.
