Description jgeldman 2005-08-01 03:10:12 UTC
1.9.118 won't install. It searches for 1.9.100 to uninstall and won't continue
until it can uninstall it. The last beta I ran was 1.9.104. I've uninstalled all
previous versions and deleted any leftovers I could find.

Specifically, it is looking for: openofficeorg19100.msi

I have removed all traces of earlier OOo's I could find (obviously not enough).
There is nothing in windows add/remove. I've removed 104 from the
windows\installer directory and manually from the registry.

I have been running a series of the 2.0 betas (104, 100, 79 that I remember).

Whatever "stuff" is left on my machine, I can't install fresh, and installation
doesn't provide enough imformation to clear/reset any old issues. This can be a
problem for the "general" market.

As a follow-up, I found issue #49405, which requests
   "Hello
The end-user should be able to update OOo without uninstall the old version."

That issue has had some follow-up discussions.

I might not be the only one hosed like this. From my view, an uninstallable tool
is a major bug, especially when the user removed the old one (oopsie) to get it
working.

Since many OS's can be confused with multiple versions, especially windows,
maybe there should be a focused method to uninstall any found versions - maybe
these would be downloaded on the fly, so a simple installation doesn't explode
in disk space. I guess this would require automated removal script creation, and
obviously isn't already there for previous versions.

Thanks, John
