Description nagashree 2005-07-20 11:23:27 UTC
Steps to reproduce:
1) Create a new presentation with 2 or more slides.
2) View - Headers and Footers and select slide number check box.
3) Save them as Openoffice 1.1.X (.sxi) format.
4) Close and open them in either in OpenOffice 1.1.x or OpenOffice 2.0

Notice that the headers and footer added are striped off.
Trying to add once again also does not let me do

Comment 2 christian.guenther 2005-07-20 17:07:13 UTC
OOo 1.1.x don't support Header / Footer therefore we can't save the header /
footer .
Comment 3 Rainer Bielefeld 2005-07-20 17:51:43 UTC
@ nagashree: can you pls specify OS and Platform?
@ cgu: 1.1.4 _did_ support header / footer (I just tested), but may be in a
quite different way than OOo 2.0 does, so that those 2.0 headers might not be
exported. Can you pls. leave some comment why the 1.1.4 header /footer can not
be exported to 2.0? That might be base for a RfE.

My current main problem is, that my presentation exported from 2.0 to .sxi
format only be edited with several restrictions in 1.1.4.

When I open the testfile (empty standard presentation from 2.0, saved as .sxi),
I get a crash.
I checked with 2.0 (1.9.m113) German version WIN XP: [680m113(Build8930)] and
1.1.4 (German) WIN XP: [645m52 (Build 8824)]

Steps to reproduce:

1. create new empty standard presentation with 2.0
2. Save as ".sxi"
3. Close
4. Open sxi from WIN explorer with doubleclick
4. Menu View - Work Area - Slide View (all Menu descriptions: Translated
   from German)
   expected: Slide view
   actual: crash

I created error report for this issue.

I will check whether that crash error is alreacy known.

I created issue 52237 as a "spin off" concerning the crash problem.
Comment 5 nagashree 2005-07-21 06:20:41 UTC
I tried this on Linux (NLD)

@ rainerbielefeld: I don't know a header / Footer funktion in 1.1.4. Please tell
me how I can insert Header / Footer in 1.1.4.
We can handle only 1 bug per issue. Please create a new issue for the crash.
Comment 7 christian.guenther 2005-07-26 10:15:07 UTC
I think you mean the Fields

Date
Time
Author
Page Number
File Name

But OOo 2.0 still support fields therefore we can't save the Header / Footer
settings as fields when saving in the OOo 1.1.x (.sxi) format.
Please tell me if you mean this or if there is another way to insert
Header/Footer in OOo 1.1.x

Hi here some hints concerning header / footer function, translate dfrom HELP
1.1.4 (German) WIN XP: [645m52 (Build 8824)]. What 1.1.4 has something like a
_as_footer_ function :-)

Creating a footer:

1. open NEW presentation (all standard with "empty slide")
2. Menu: View - Workspace - Drawing View
3. click on symbol "Background view" left bottom corner of screen
4. Open Text from Toolbar
5. make a textfield outside the standard slide area, if you want with special
   fields like time, date,
5. Go back to Page view (left bottom corner of screen ... )
6. Insert new page
You see that you have a footer with correct function on all pages.

Header works as well.

I will attach an example presentation from 1.1.4

I reopen the issue
Comment 11 christian.guenther 2005-10-17 16:44:39 UTC
I think this is not a bug but a feature.
We should export header and footer as fields on the masterpage when we save a
OOo2.0 document in the OOo1.1.x format.
