Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 51202
Support for mice (mouse) with tilt wheel
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:12:27 UTC
There is a new generation of mice - examples from at least Microsoft and Logitech (eg Logitech Cordless Click! Optical Mouse) where the mouse scroll wheel can be rocked left/right (as well as pressed and scrolled up/down!) Office, particularly the spreadsheet, implement this by left/right scrolling of the window region. At least in Calc, this enhancement should be made in order to keep place in the market. Of course, although written for Windows/Calc, this issue/enhancement should not be limited to this application or platform.
it's up to the requirements team now
Please consider making this feature a reality. I want to leave MS Office but this is one very helpful feature is found in there yet not here.
Would definitely like to see this feature added. I used to use horizontal scrolling quite a bit, in ms office, with my logitech mx1000 (bt laser) but automatically assumed it would be available in oo as well.
I would have thought that this belonged more in "framework" as interface behaviour should be the same in all modules (else it is not an "integrated" suite, is it?)
Even more prevalent than tilt wheels are touchpads with horizontal scrolling... found on laptops of all kinds and on peripheral touchpad devices. Horizontal scrolling with the touchpad is very ergonomic. I spend nearly all my time in OpenOffice, so horizontal scrolling support becomes a health issue.
